Raymond 'Ray' W. Cable, 90, of Bethany, passed away on February 4, 2013 at the VA Hospital in West Haven. Born on May 12, 1922 to the late Frederick and Ethel Almas Cable. Ray will be remembered by his adoring wife of 67 years, Vivian Strom Cable; loving children, Gary (Carol) Cable of Pahoa, HI, Susan (Dennis) Martens of Bethany, and Wayne (Donna) Cable of Woodbridge; cherished grandchildren, Sean (Nicole) Cable, Lauren Cable, Michael Martens, Heather (Frank) Martens Pinho; treasured great grand-daughter, Gracie Pinho; brother, Ralph (Sally) Cable of Front Royal, VA; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Alton, Hanford, Harold, Stanley Cable, and Elizabeth Grabowski, Julia Kenzul, and Margaret Paugus. Ray was a proud WWII Army Veteran having served in the 339th Infantry Division and received the Purple Heart. After returning home from the service, Ray married the love of his life and they moved to Bethany to raise their family. He retired from Olin after 35 years of employment. In his free time he enjoyed working in the yard, feeding the birds, reading, or going on mini vacations with friends. But more than anything, Ray loved time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Friends are invited to a Memorial Service Celebrating Ray's life on Monday, February 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, Bethany.
