Peacefully at home, Nov. 14, 2007, Rev. C. John Mouland, 75, of Northford, husband of Carol Becker Mouland, father of John Mouland and his wife, Joy of Rocky Hill, Mark Mouland and his wife, Gabriela of Indio, CA and Matthew Mouland and his wife, Tina of Durham, brother of Gertrude Ostrander of Spring Arbor, MI, grandfather of Jennifer, Janine, Irma, Gabriella, Carol-Karin and Matthew E.P. Mouland, and uncle to Michael, Melba, and daughter Kathryn Ostrander and Stephen, Lisa, and sons Joshua, Caleb, and Andrew Ostrander. John was born in New Haven, Aug. 29, 1932 son of the late Cyril L. and Minnie Ezold Mouland. He was a graduate of Stuyvesant High School, Brooklyn College and Mt. Airy Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia where he received his Masters in Divinity. He faithfully served St. Paul Lutheran Church in Richmondville, NY, Zion Lutheran in Seward, NY, Zion Lutheran in Pittsfield, MA and First Lutheran in West Haven, CT. He retired in 1992 as Chief of Chaplin Services from the West Haven Veteran's Medical Center where he had worked since 1972. After retirement, he served at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Bristol. Funeral service Friday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 305 St. Ronan St., New Haven. Interment Sat. at 11 a.m. in Northumberland Memorial Park in Sunbury, PA. Friends may call Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. In lieu of flowers contributions in Rev. C. John Mouland's memory may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405, The Salvation Army, 450 George St., New Haven, CT 06511 or to the charity of one's choice.
