Richard Joseph Hettrick
Richard Joseph Hettrick, 65, of Vivian Drive died unexpectedly at home on Monday, Jan. 12, 2004. He was the husband of Gayle Grandy Hettrick. Born in Wallingford on Nov. 10, 1938, he was the son of the late Harvey and Mabel Hall Hettrick. He resided for the majority of his life in Meriden where, with the help of his wife, raised five children, moving in 1978 to their current residence where he spent the rest of his life. Mr. Hettrick worked for 28 years as a self-employed painter and paperhanger providing a healthy upbringing for his five children and his wife of 45 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Steven and Jeffrey of Berlin; three daughters and two sons-in-laws, Susan and Russell Lebel of Palmetto, FL; Linda Hettrick of Newington and Deborah and Kevin Hoyt of Palmetto, FL; six grandchildren, Jason Hoyt, Bryan Hettrick, Jeremy Hoyt, Nicolette Lebel, Katelyn Hettrick and Jessica Hoyt; one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Richard Gates of Enfield; three bothers and three sisters-in-law, Russell and Vicky Hettrick of Meriden, Donald Hettrick of Vernon, Robert and Barbara Hettrick of Meriden and Carol Hettrick; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, James Hettrick and Harvey Hettrick. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Isaac Calichicco will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 12 noon to 2 p.m. prior to the services.
Linda – Please accept my sincere condolences. I was back in Meriden for the funeral of my grandmother, Iris Kiss, who had services at the same funeral home and was also buried at Walnut grove on the same day as your father. My thoughts are with you and your family. Fred Arther
