Richard Lyman Doerr, 'Dick,' husband of the late Mary Jean Doerr, passed away on May 4, 2012 at the West Haven VA Hospital. Born in Chicago, IL on April 17, 1923 to the late Harold F. Doerr and Della Gaskill. He married Mary Jean Jackson in 1946 and graduated from Indiana University in 1948. During WW II he was a P-47 Thunderbolt fighter pilot. Dick was employed as a research chemist for Mathieson Alkali Works (Olin) from 1949 to 1983. He is survived by his son, Douglas Doerr and his wife Lenni Terao of Oakland, CA, and by his sister Nancy Gage and her husband Alan Gage of Oberlin, OH. A Memorial Service will be held at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden on Saturday, May 12th at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit prior to the service with the family from 10 to 11:00. Burial will be Private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd, Branford, CT 06405.
