Rita M. Murphy

Rita M. (Swett) Murphy, age 94, of Hamden, passed away on September 29, 2017. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts on August 2, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Charles & Florence (Littlefield) Hood. Rita was the widow of Robert Murphy and Alfred Swett. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Simone & her husband Anthony of Hamden, Linda Goodrow & her husband Craig of Southbury, and Alicia Laudano of Hamden; her sons, Bruce Swett of East Haven and Carl Swett, and 16 grandchildren. Rita was predeceased by her daughters, Sandra Bates, Marsha Geauvane, and Pamela Abbott; her son, Jeffrey Swett, and her sister Doris. A resident of Hamden most of her life, Rita was a saleswoman, retired from Sears after many years of employment. Friends may visit with her family at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with her Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 PM.
