I grew up with Bobby on Glen View Terrace. He was a year younger than me and part of a group of 7 kids in the neighborhood that played together as we grew up. Touch football and stickball in the street. Snow forts and snowball fights. Chasing butterflies with our nets. We turned the narrow spaces along his garage and the fence around the Kibbe house into a “fort.” At the beginning of each school year in elementary school, we would run out of our houses and meet at the tree in front of the Miller’s house. I remember too his older sister Linda and younger sister Joan. Bobby was a good guy and while I knew at some point he was living in Bethany and was with USPS, I was not in touch for decades. Fond memories. I was pained today at learning of his passing and am saddened by it. My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.
Bob and I worked together as letter carriers in Whitneyville for over 20 years. Bob had a dry sense of humor and fit in with the many lunatics he worked with. We often kidded him about being a Yalie and looking a lot like Bill Gates. Bob very rarely showed any anger at work though we had some pretty clueless management. I used to join him on my route to play pool and throw darts at Pete Wainwright’s house. For many years, we were as close as family until the retirements started. I was glad a few of our carriers got to spend some time with Bob before his passing. To Lynn and all his family, my deepest condolences. I will be in Port St. Lucie to meet my new granddaughter this week, but my thoughts and prayers are with all of you! May God bless you and grant you peace and healing!
Sorry for your loss! Sending love!
I am so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. I knew Bob from church (Westville Methodist) and had not seen him in decades until he happened to spot me on his route one day. My condolences.
