Meriden - Robert A. Milchalke, 72, husband of the late Beverly (Stone) Michalke passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at MidState Medical Center. He was born August 27, 1936 in Meriden a son of the late Walter and Agnes (Beal) Michalke Sr. He graduated from Meriden High School, helped his father operate Town and Country Esso Gas Station on Old Colony Rd., and went on to own and operate Bob's Lock Shop on Old Colony Rd.. He served his country in the U.S. Airforce as a radar man on the Hurricane Hunter Aircrafts. He was a member of the Masons- Center Lodge #97, the Amaranthe Westwood Court #5, and was very involved in the Masons both on the state and local level for many years. Bob was also a member of the Sphinx. He is survived by a daughter, Sherry and her husband Bob Breton of Meriden, a son, Scott and his wife Kathi Cramblit of So. Meriden, three brothers and their wives, Walter and Eda Michalke Jr. of Middlefield, Gerald and Barbara Michalke and Kenneth Michalke both of Louisiana, two grandchildren, Nicholas and Amanda Cramblit and three nephews, Michael Michalke of Vermont, William Michalke of Middlefield and Walter Michalke III of New Jersey. Funeral service Tuesday, January 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. James Stoltenberg will officiate. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, January 19 from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
