Meriden- Robert A. Ramino Sr., 83 died on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Hartford son of the late Robert and Catarina (Boccucci) Ramino. He graduated from Weaver High School and joined the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. He fought in the Pacific aboard the battleship U.S.S. Colorado as a gunner and on the U.S.S. Ingersoll as a fireman. On his return from active duty he learned the upholstery trade. He opened his own business, 'Decorators Workshop' in Hartford and was a master upholsterer, who worked only for decorators and upholstered furniture for many famous people, such as Paul Neuman. Upon his retirement he worked part-time for many years for his friend and golf buddy Rick Merliss at Merl Inc. He was an avid golfer and a member of Hunters Municipal Golf Club, enjoyed bowling and was a member of the North Italian Club for many years. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at MidState Medical Center, Oncology Dept. , especially Dr.Tancino, Dawn, Karen and Mary, the nurses on Pavilions B&C and the Franciscan Sisters for their excellent care. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Pritchard Ramino, his four children, Robert (Kayleen) Ramino Jr, Craig (Carey) Ramino, Cindi Ramino-Berube and Rick (Michelle) Ramino, and his most prescious grandchildren; Marc (Tabatha), Melanie, Jennifer, Kyle, Sophia and Ava who gave him so much love and pleasure. He also leaves four sisters, Emily Shea, Betty Lapitsky, Rose Roche and Louise Guiser, a very special friend Dennis Stocking, and a great family of nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister, Lillian and a brother Alfred. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 1:30pm at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home from 12 noon to 1:30. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to the MidState Medical Center Oncology Dept., 435 Lewis Ave., Meriden, Ct 06451 , or to the Franciscan Home Care, 267 Finch Ave., Meiden, CT 06451.

  1. Aunt Betty, Bobby, Craig, Ricky, Cindy, and family. .The Godfather. as he was so fondly called from his nieces and nephews, was a wonderful brother and uncle to all of us. He was always so happy to be with us whenever we were all together and especially at our family reunions. That is when he would say that he had the .greatest family. in the whole world. We love you, you will always be in our hearts and we will miss you dearly. Rest in Peace. We Love you, Louise, Rose, Cheryl, Warren, Debby and family.

  5. My sincere condolences to Betty and the Ramino Family. As one of Bob’s D2 golf buddies, I will miss him dearly. On my first day in D2, Bob welcomed me as if I had been in the group for years. After we discovered that my mother & Bob were born on the exact same day, we shared a friendship that I will always cherish. Love you Bob… Also, as president of the Hunter (Silver City) Men’s Club, I would like to acknowledge Bob’s many years of membership. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Bob is hitting the ball over the brook every time now…
