Robert Bowie Douglas

Meriden - Robert Bowie Douglas, 78, of Hanover Street, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2007. Born July 25, 1928 in East Orange, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Peter and Catherine Cuddingham Douglas. Robert "Bob" attended local schools in East Orange, NJ. He was a World War II veteran serving with the 91st Fighter SQ 81st Fighter GP in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a journeyman printer by trade for most of his working life. He worked for several area newspapers throughout his career. After leaving the printing trade he retired from Specialty Metals in Meriden in 1992. Bob is survived by his sons, Robert Douglas of Oxnard, CA, Richard Douglas of Salinas, CA, Paul Douglas of Southington, Michael Douglas and Matthew Douglas of Meriden; his daughter and son-in-law, Laura Douglas and Steve Norkiewicz of Meriden; his grandchildren, Patrick, Daniel, Richard and Rob; his sisters, Jean Ruggiero, Eleanor Mackowick, Constance Roman, Isabelle Castagno and Margaret Reed, all of New Jersey and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wives, Eva Douglas of Southington and Donna Douglas of Meriden. He will be greatly missed and forever loved. Funeral services and burial will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
