In CT Hospice, May 18, 2005, Robert Hale Barnes, 77, husband of 51 years to Esther N. Barnes of Sheahan Dr., Hamden and Wilmington, VT, father of Robert Kent Barnes and his wife, Beth A. Nesbit Barnes of Prospect, Kyle R. Barnes of Vestal, NY, brother of William Barnes, Marian Zehnder both of Copley, OH, Alan Barnes of Lake Orion, MI, and grandfather of Adam and Katie Barnes. Robert was born in Akron, OH, June 22, 1927, a son of the late George C. & Charlotte Donachie Barnes. He attended Kent State University and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He had worked at the former Armstrong Rubber Co. of West Haven for 25 years and retired as facilities supervisor. After retirement he worked as superintendent at Tower One Tower East, New Haven. He was an active member of Youth Baseball since 1966 and was currently Assistant Commissioner of Babe Ruth Baseball. He enjoyed cooking, skiing and golfing. Funeral service Sat., May 21 at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 600 Shepard Ave., Hamden. Friends may call Friday from 4-8 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
