Wallingford - Robert J. Behler, 84, husband of Ann M (Lord) Behler passed away on Monday, March 3 at Masconic Healthcare Center. He was born October 13, 1923 in New Haven a son of the late Vincent and Anna (Horlacher) Behler. Robert had worked for Canberra Industries as a draftsman /designer prior to his retirement. He was a member of First Church of Christ in Cheshire where he was a deacon and proudly served his country during WWII in the U. S. Army. He was a past master of Temple Lodge #16 in Cheshire, a member of the Day Spring Lodge in Hamden, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star- Alice Chapter #76, OES Hamden, had served seven times as Worthy Patron and as treasurer for twelve years. Robert was also a member for six years of the Eastern Star Charity Foundation and was also a member of the Advisory Board-Order of the Rainbow Girls for many years and currently a Rainbow Grandpa for the Evergreen Assembly #44. Besides his wife Ann, he is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Deborah and Nicholas Sidorick of Wolcott, Susan and Marc Pelletier of Cheshire and Cynthia and Joseph Cavallaro III of Cheshire, one son, Robert and his wife Judy Behler of Hamden, ten grandchidren and a sister, Ruthe Sperzel of Cheshire. He was predeceased by three sisters, Anna Linsley, Inez Behler, Dorothy Meeker and one brother, Raymond Behler. A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, March 6 at Hillside Cemetery, 166 Wallingford Rd., Cheshire. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 1p, at the Hewitt Chapel at the Masonic Healthcare Center, 22 Masonic Ave., Wallingford. In lieu of flowers contriubtions in Robert's memory may be made to The Quality of Life Fund, Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O.Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492 or to The Eastern Star Foundation, ________________. The Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden is in charge of the arrangements.
