Robert Joseph Kavanaugh, 74, of West Haven, husband of 40 years to Linda Petrillo Kavanaugh, passed away peacefully at his home on May 2, 2010. Besides his wife, Robert leaves his daughters, Deborah Kavanaugh of Milford and Kelly Notaro (RJ) of North Haven; grandchildren, Audrey and Jack Notaro; siblings, James Kavanaugh of East Haven and Maureen Bourcier of Lady Lake, FL. Born in New Haven on January 12, 1936, Robert and his wife have lived in West Haven for the last 40 years where they raised their daughters. He honorably served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. He worked as a tire builder for Armstrong Rubber Co. for 18 years. He enjoyed working as an attendant at the beach in West Haven while employed by the Park and Rec Dept. Photography was a favorite past time, he was an avid sports fan, and loved nothing more than spending time with his family and grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of Ascension, 1040 Dunbar Hill Rd, Hamden, on Wednesday, May 5th at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit with his family at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden, on Wednesday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in New Center Cemetery, North Haven.
