Robert 'Bob' K. Palmer, age 73, of Hamden, passed away on May 4, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Bob was the beloved husband of 50 years to Mary Ann Quillen Palmer. Born in Miami, FL on January 30, 1939, he was the son of the late Kenneth & Clover Ripple Palmer. Bob is survived by his daughters, Kathy & her husband Frank Gulia of Orange, Cyndi & her husband Paul Costanzo of Ellington, Jeanne Palmer & her husband Nate Hill of North Haven and Susan & her husband Scott Riordan of Madison and his grandchildren, Kristina, Melissa & Michael Gulia, James & Emily Costanzo, Avery & Maren Hill and Samantha, Lindsay & Brendan Riordan. A Guilford High School Hall of Fame Athlete, Bob also played Semi Pro Baseball for the Baltimore Orioles. After his service in the United States Army, Bob went on to a 35 year career with SNET and later NEC. The joys of Bob's life were the times he spent with his family, teaching & playing sports with his children and grandchildren, holidays at the beach and quiet times on the Guilford shore with his Mary Ann. Friends may visit with Bob's family on Monday, May 7th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden and may attend a celebration of his life in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. His interment will be held privately. Contributions in Bob's memory may be made to the Hospital for Special Care, ALS Unit, 2150 Corbin Ave, New Britain, CT 06053.

  3. Dear MaryAnn and Family, Although it was our privelege to know Bob for less time then many other close friends, he was a true gentleman and a very sincere, good person. Inflicted with a horrible desease, he calmly fought it to the end. May he rest in peace.
