In Hamden ,Dec. 25, 2002, Robert T. Murphy, Sr., of 1450 Whitney Ave.,husband of the late Geraldine Desmond Murphy, father of Robert T. Murphy, Jr. and his wife Anne Catinello Murphy of North Haven, brother of Helen Sullivan of Brooklyn ,NY, grandfather of Christopher and Thomas Murphy of North Haven. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, Nov. 20, 1912, son of the late William and Margaret Murphy. He served in the U.S. Navy durning WW II as a Pharmacist's Mate in Korea. He was also a member of the Marine Corps Reserve. Mr Murphy was a machinist with the Brooklyn Navy Yard prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Grand Lodge International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and was employed as a bank guard for Chase Manhattan Bank, NYC. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning Dec. 28 in Saint Rita Church, Hamden at 9:00. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden Friday from 3-6 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Assn. of Southern CT, Development Dept., 1 Long Wharf Dr., New Haven, CT. 06511.
