Rosalie D. Viele

Rosalie D. Viele, 74, of West Haven, passed peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on January 10, 2013 following a brief illness. Adoring wife of 53 years to Kenneth Viele, Sr, Rosalie was born Rosalie Dolores Vanacore, in New Haven on November 5, 1938 to the late Thomas and Theresa Sarbo Vanacore. Rosalie is remembered as the strong, loving and passionate matriarch to her family, a hard working and successful business owner, and endlessly loving and devoted grandmother. She enjoyed nothing more than filling the bellies of family and friends with her delicious Italian recipes, often made with fresh ingredients from her backyard garden. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she never turned down the opportunity for overnight or weekend visits with them. Together, Rosalie and Ken enjoyed visits to their modest Florida vacation home where they shared bicycle rides in the sunshine, and kayak excursions through the local wildlife sanctuary. Memories of traditional Christmas Eve fish dinners at 'Nana's' house will live on in her family, and she will be missed dearly. Besides her husband Kenneth, Rosalie is remembered by her sons and daughters-in-laws, Kenneth Jr. and Christine, Stephan & Robin, and Eric & Effie; her grandchildren, Brittany, Marina, Sarah, Gianna, Samantha and Ethan; her brothers, Joseph and John Vanacore, along with nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Thomas Vanacore. Friends may visit with her family at BEECHER & BENNETT-TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., West Haven on Tuesday, January 15th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Friends are invited to go directly to St. Louis Church, 89 Bull Hill Lane, West Haven on Wednesday, January 16th for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. followed by her burial in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Donations in Rosalie's memory may be sent to Smilow Cancer Center at Yale-New Haven , 333 Cedar St., PO Box 208028, New Haven, CT 06520.
