Rose Arcari Mercuri MERIDEN - Rose Arcari Mercuri, beloved wife of Joe and mother of Chris, Camille and Marion, went to her final rest on Monday, Jan. 14, 2002. She was 84 years old. Daughter of the late Raphael and Cristina (Antoniano) Arcari, she was born and raised in Hartford along with her brothers, Phil and Lib, and sisters, Ange (DiCioccio Maresca), Mary (DeLucia) and Jenny. In 1946, Rose and Joe were married and have lived in Meriden ever Since. She was an active member of the First Italian Baptist Church, which later became Grace Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and served as Sunday School Superintendent. She leaves her husband and children, Chris and Jerry Marcellino, Camille and Bob Wesneski and Marion and Randy Smith; grandchildren, Cami and Rob Newcomb, Jessica Marcellino, Heidi and Mike Hilton, Carolyne and Brett Flaherty, Bobby and Joey Wesneski, Christopher and Stephen Smith; great-grandchildren, Marisia Rose Newcomb and Jacob and Brianna Flaherty. Rose had a joyful,loving spirit and an unshakeable faith. She saw the best in every person and situation and inspired the people around her. The following quote from Dr. Vivien Pomeroy, a 19th century Unitarian Minister, reflects Rose's lifelong philosophy, ''Let us take much of love into the struggles of life, and when the recall sounds and the shadows fall, may we have hearts unembittered by all we have suffered and uncorrupted by all we have enjoyed, and be at last remembered as one who loved greatly.'' Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Rose's life on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Southington, 37 Main Street, Southington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 342 Prospect Street, Torrington, CT 06790. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
