MERIDEN - Roy Otto Winkel, 86, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at Meriden Nursing and Rehab. Center. Born in Meriden on May 4, 1915, he was the son of the late Ernest and Clara MacCracken Winkel. He was employed in the office of the International Silver Company until his retirement and served with the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He is survived by a brother, Robert Winkel, of Storrs, CT and four nephews, John Rule of Middletown, James Rule of Parkland, FL, Gary Winkel of Stratford and Rev. Randy Winkel of Venice, FL. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Winkel and Dorothy Rule. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 9, at 10 a.m. in Miner Cemetery in Middletown. The Rev. Wallace Merdinyan will officiate. If desired, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
