Rudy, also fondly known as 'Gerry Gomez', one of the most well-known international Cricketers from the West Indies, due to his resemblance and playing style. In his early years, he was known for many things, amongst them being his skillful carpentry, constructor of truck beds, and his top-notch management of the local gas station in Newtown, Dominica Rudy was also a carnival enthusiast, and avid domino player. He loved the old western movies, playing Christmas carols during the holidays, and parties and gatherings with his family and loved ones. His most cherished moments included Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas breakfasts and summers at Chatfield Hollows Lake with the family. In 1965, Rudy migrated to Connecticut with the intent of building a better life for his family back in Dominica. He started and ran a successful construction company, LaFond Builders, which enabled him to fulfill his dream of building a home for himself and his wife to retire to, back in Dominica. With the love of his life, he enjoyed 12 years of retirement until The Father called him to come home. Rudy: a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather is now our angel above. We will forever remember his famous words of wisdom 'whatever you do, make sure it is constructive,' and 'stay out of harm's way.' He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. I have just discovered the recent death of my father and would like to offer my deepest sympathies. I will always regret that I did not manage to see my father before he passed away.
