Meriden - Ruth (Bailey ) Burbidge, died Sunday August 29 at the Masonic Home where she was a redident for the last eleven years.She was the wife of the late Pierson ''Babe'' Burbidge. She was born in Meriden, May 2, 1917 the daughter of the late Charles and Mae (Barrows) Bailey. Mrs. Burbidge was a seventy-two year member of the First Congregational Church of Meriden; a member of Meridian Chapter #8 of the Order of the Eastern Star and Westwood Court #5 of the Order of the Amaranth. She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn (Philip) Ladd of Ellington, CT., Roberta (Skip) Knopp of Meriden and Lynn Bergh of Falmouth, MA.; six grandchildren Greg Ladd, Sharon Ladd Parlante, Rebecca Knopp, Dalyn Bergh, Steven Knopp, and Bethani Bergh and three great-grandchildren, Ethan and Ariana Parlante and Eric Ladd. She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Bailey and Russell Bailey. Memorial service will be held Thurs., Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 62 Colony St., Meriden. The Rev. John Wayne Clark will officiate. Burial will be private. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the staff at Masonic Home and Hospital for their devotion and compassion.
