Ruth Morris McDonnell of Hamden, CT, wife of the late Robert R. McDonnell, M.D., died on July 25, 2010. Ruth was born August 28, 1924 in Bryn Mawr, PA. to David J. and Alice Hollywood Morris. She is survived by her six daughters, Donna M. Pieron (Thomas) of Chester, CT, Bonnie M. DuBrino of Antrim, NH, Carole M. Doherty (John) of Underhill, VT, Deborah M. Colwell (William) of Cheshire, CT, Patricia M. Clifton (Mark) of Killingworth, CT, Joan M. O'Connor (Joseph) of Loudonville, NY; eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother David J. Morris, Jr. (Madeline) of Tampa, FL and predeceased by three sisters, June Morris, Gertrude Weiser and Cecelia Ulsh. The McDonnell family would like to thank her physicians and their medical staff for their care and compassion through the years, as well as the doctors and nursing staff at the Hospital of Saint Raphael. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN, Wednesday, July 28 from 4-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 5 Hillhouse Ave., New Haven. To Joan: Many years ago you told me a story about your mom driving out of her garage and bumping your Honda. I laughed and asked you how could she do that – not to know a car was behind her? Since then I can’t tell you how many times I’ve just missed a car in my driveway backing out of the garage. However, twice (not once), I backed out of my garage when my kids left the back door open and smashed the doors. Almost every day, I think you telling me the story of your mom hitting your Honda. Hope you’re doing well and I’m very sorry for your mother’s passing. Bud Yasevac
