Sandra Shea Zimmerman, wife of Lester L. Zimmerman, entered eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 30, 2017. She was born in Meriden on August 9, 1949, the daughter of the late Cornelius and Lorraine Shea. She graduated from Maloney High School Class of 1967 and the Eli Whitney Regional Vocational Technical School/Yale-New Haven Hospital Nursing Program. She was employed as an LPN on 5 East at Meriden-Wallingford Hospital and the Cardio Diagnostics unit at Midstate Medical Center. She fought the fight against Multiple Myeloma and won the good fight of faith as a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church. She served on numerous committees and used her gift of musical talent as a member of the church vocal and hand bell choirs. She had many other talents including cooking, knitting, oil painting, and gardening; and was a kind and generous woman who helped countless people during her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Kyle (Laurie), of Cheshire, and Brett (Nancy Trageser) of Middletown. She is also survived by her life's most precious treasures, her three grandchildren; Brooke, Scott, and Nora, all of Cheshire. She also leaves behind her brother, Brian Shea, of Meriden. Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Medical Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion during her treatment. Family and friends may call Thursday, May 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Friday, May 5 at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church. A private burial will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery. Arrangements in care of Beecher & Bennett - Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.
