Serena Nicole Moore
Serena Nicole Moore, of East Haven, left this earth suddenly on January 11, 2017. Serena was born on July 22, 1986 and traveled through her short life to the beat of a different drum. She was a loving mother, loyal friend, and gifted writer who cherished family & friends alike. Always willing to share her heart, Serena will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. She leaves behind her sweet daughter, Lily, parents, Jack & Sue, brother, Evan, and grandmother 'Mama,' as well as an uncle, 3 aunts, many cousins, and many, many loving friends. Her free spirit is finally truly free and she can rest peacefully, watching over all those she loved as big as the sky. Services will be held privately at a later date. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, Hamden. In the spirit of Serena's kind and caring heart, please make a gift in her memory to the charity of your choice and perform a random act of kindness.
I am Donna’s cousin, Elizabeth. I am so very sorry for your great loss. I read some of Serena’s poetry and she was very, very gifted. Much love to all of you. I spent time with you, Jackie, in Tennessee, when we were all little. God bless you all.
I knew Serena back in Elementary School. She was an awesome Flute player. And was very funny and kind especially in High School. I’m so shocked and in Disbelief. She will be missed very much.
I’m at a loss for words….may you find strength and courage to continue on. The world lost a beautiful soul and lovely person, her smile contagious. My love to you all
Dear Jack and Sue,
We will always remember Serena’s contagious smile, both in the classroom and at band competitions. Our prayers and heartfelt condolences to you all.

Serena will always hold a special place in my heart. I worked with her about 10 years ago. My husband and I were struggling, I was pregnant and living in and out of hotels with our 2 yo son. Serena had won money with a scratch off and the first thing she did was not think about what she was going to get with that money, she came and paid for a week of our hotel room then knocked on our door to tell us with dinner. She even invited my son and I to her parents house to have dinner with them. The last time I saw her was in the hospital with her little princess. Bless her and her family. She will truly be missed.
Sweet Serena I only knew you for a short time but your kindness was so overwhelming it truly touched my heart rest easy sweet girl I know you will always be watching over your baby girl and all that knew you😇ž
Dear Sue & Jack,
My heart is so heavy with grief for you and your family. I keep thinking back to our POPS days and what a sweet little girl Serena was. I still have the Christmas ornament with her name in glitter that she gave to Christopher (I do need to give it to him one of these days). I was so happy to have met you and enjoyed watching our toddlers grow into young children; those days were the best! May your love for your children & granddaughter keep you strong through this most difficult time. If I can offer you any support, please do not hesitate to call me.
In friendship…
Thank you for your thoughtful words. Please keep memories of Serena close to your heart!
Thank you so much, Mike and Jackie, for remembering Serena so fondly. She did have a wonderful smile! We are grateful for all that both of you brought to Serena’s life throughout the Academy and EHHS. Your kind thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Claire, for your thoughtfulness. We also remember those days with fondness. POPS was a great start for our kids and I thank you for being such a driving force behind that opportunity! We had lots of fun times together and with our kids, great memories. They have grown into wonderful young people! Here’s hoping we have a chance to cross paths again soon.
Thank you, James, for your kind words. Serena was proud to have known you and of all your accomplishments. She was, indeed, a wonderful friend and had a way of making everyone she met feel special. Thank you for remembering her so fondly.
