Sharyn always loved reading and graduated from Transylvania University with a B.A. in English in 1967. She earned an M.A.T. in English teaching from Wesleyan University in 1969, but then immediately went to work at Yale in the office of the Secretary of the University. She immediately went back to work for Yale by setting up and overseeing the search office for a new president of the University. She finished her career at Yale as a Project Manager in Student Information Technology Services.
