Stephen J. Delaney
Stephen J. Delaney, 81, loving husband of the late Catherine Rodolico Delaney, passed away at his residence on May 15, 2008. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 19, 1926 to the late Stephen J. and Margaret Buckhardt Delaney. Stephen is survived by his daughters Margaret McCarthy and husband Donald of Hamden, Barbara White and husband Alan of North Haven, Susan McManus and husband Don of Guilford, Catherine Skorupski and husband Robert of Hamden and sons Stephen J. Delaney, III and his wife Lynda of Orange, and John T. Delaney of Hamden. Grandchildren Donald, Matthew, and Daniel McCarthy, David and Kristen White, Stephanie Delaney, Stephen Delaney, and Carly Skorupski. Stephen grew up in Brooklyn, NY before moving to Hamden where he has lived for the last 39 years. He was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, an Army Veteran and retired from the Commercial Union Insurance Company after 46 years. When Stephen was not spending quality time and hosting holiday gatherings with his family, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, playing golf, reading and was an avid NY Mets, Jets and Knicks fan. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Monday, May 19th at 9:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamden. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions in Stephen's name may be sent to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT 06518.
