Stuart G. Dupee
Stuart G. Dupee, 97, of West Haven, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Susan Marrinan Dupee for 73 years. Stuart was born in New Haven on October 10, 1919, son of the late Joseph H. and Bertha Spurr Dupee. Besides his wife Susan, Stuart is survived by his children Stuart W. Dupee (Muriel), Jane D. Pniewski (Michael) and James S. Dupee (Joyce) all of West Haven. He is also survived by eight grandchildren Kimberly Forbes, Michelle Viesselman, Keith Dupee, Jason Pniewski, Janna Farrell, Jessica Carmody, Elliott Dupee and Evan Dupee and 13 great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Stuart is predeceased by his siblings Barbara Dupee Winterhalder and James Manning. Stuart honorably served in the U.S. Army during WWII and then went on to become a splicing supervisor at SNET for 38 years. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in West Haven, the West Haven Square Dance Club and also the Good Time Skating Club of East Haven. Stuart and Susan met while skating in the New Haven Arena in 1940 and had been devoted to one another ever since. Stuart was an avid hockey fan, having played on the West Haven High School team in 1937, coached both his sons in New Haven PeeWee hockey, and seldom missed a chance to see his sons and grandsons play youth, high school and college hockey. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Stuart's funeral service on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Holy Spirit, 28 Church St., West Haven. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven. BEECHER & BENNETT-TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., West Haven, is assisting the family with arrangements.
