Swanee W. Naamon, 84, of Meriden, wife of the late Edwin L. Naamon, Sr. passed away April 13, 2012 atfer a brief illenss. She was born in Clover, Va. Dec. 24, 1927 a daughter of the late Paul J. and Herietta Brown Williams and had resided in Meriden for ver 60 years. Swanee was a substitute teacher for the Meriden Board of Education for 35 years. She attended Virginia State University, and was a member of the Salvation Army, the League of Women Voters and she was a long time active member of the First United Methodist Church of Meriden. She is survived by two daughters, Carol Naamon Barger of Wallingford, Bridgette Naamon of Meriden, a son, Edwin L, Naamon, MD, of West Orange NJ, a sister, Barbara W. Wimbish of Meriden, two brothers, Grant Williams of Hampton, VA, Paul R. Williams of Washington, DC. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Eugenia Noelle Lenore Naamon, Gervais Barger, Jr. and Lenore Luvenia Barger, a sister in law and husband, Phyllis and Fred Timm of Meriden. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Also surviving is her beloved dog Henrietta. Funeral service will be held Thursday morning April 19, in the First United Methodist Church at 10 am. Friends may call at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave. Wednesday from 4-7 pm. Interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, 159 E. Main St. Meriden, CT 06450.
