Thelma L. Hammond Davis
Thelma L. Hammond Davis, 94, formerly of 1631 Shepard Ave., Hamden, CT died Wed., June 13, 2007 at CT Hospice in Branford. She is the wife of the late Floyd I. Davis and had lived at Maplewoods of Hamden Assisted Living Community since September of 2005. Mrs. Davis was born in Hymera, Indiana on July 18, 1912, a daughter of the late Clora May Ellis and William Thomas Hammond formerly of Indiana. Mrs. Davis leaves a son, Floyd Leon Davis of Portsmouth, RI, and seven grandchildren; Lynn Boyd of Fredericksburg, VA, George Davis of Colchester, Wayne Davis of Windsor, CO, James Davis of White Bear Lake, MN, Jeff Davis of New Haven, Chad Davis of Ridgefield and Jennifer Davis-Muller of North Franklin. She also has 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son George Edward Davis and 12 siblings; Pearl Marie (Furry) Hayes, Mary Jane Clager, Edith May McClanahan, Wayne Valentine Hammond, George Thomas Hammond, Maise Lois Taylor, William L. Hammond, Hallie Jeanette Balmer, Paul Ellis Hammond, Keith Robert Hammond, Kenneth Raymond Hammond and Enid Leara Fogarty. Mrs. Davis was employed by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft of North Haven until her retirement in 1972. She and her husband were members of the Temple Sweethearts Square Dance Club. They enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with their family. Funeral Service will be held at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT on Monday, June 18th at 11a.m. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 10:30-11 a.m.
