Theodora 'Dottie' 'Teddie' R. Barker, 88, loving wife of 63 years to the late Walter T. Barker of New Haven, passed away March 21, 2017 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Roxbury, MA Sept. 8, 1928, a daughter of the late Theodore G. and Bessie Porros Rembetsy, and graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School. Theodora was an active member of the East Pearl United Methodist Church and was chairperson of Pastor-Parish Relations. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived out her deep faith in God by loving and caring for others. A devoted wife and mother, she leaves her children, Martha J. Brown (Richard) of Branford, Diane Carpenter (Robert) of Madison, Walter T. Barker III (Linda) of Barnard, VT, and William E. Barker (Lisa) of East Haven; grandchildren, Rachel (Jeremy) Cupps, Christine & Daniel Carpenter, Michele and Zack Barker, and Blake and Colin Barker, and great-grandchildren Elena, Rosalina, and Anastaysia; sister of Peter Rembetsy of Milford, Christie Rembetsy of Marlborough, MA, sister-in-law of Jean B. Hanley and Gloria Elliott of Hamden. She was predeceased by a brother, George T. Rembetsy, and sisters, Helen M. Bonvie and Martha V. Smith. Friends may visit with her family on Friday, March 24, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden and may attend her Funeral Service on Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Andrew's Methodist Church, 1230 Townsend Ave., New Haven. Interment in East Lawn Cemetery.
