Tynesha Denise McKnight, 29, of Fort Campbell, KY passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 6, 2016. She was born in New Haven on August 6, 1987 daughter of Anthony Smith and Deborah McKnight. Tynesha had spent the last 10 years in the US Army honorably serving her country and was a Staff Sergeant stationed in Fort Campbell. Along with her parents, Tynesha is survived by her grandmother, Claretha McKnight; her daughter Shamya Denise Spruce; sisters Ices Vaughn and Clarice McKnight; brothers Antwon McKnight and Delreece Smith. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a wide range of friends. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Tynesha's family on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM in the Varick Memorial AME Zion Church, 242 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven.   3. I am so sorry for your loss. I met Tynesha here in Montgomery as we went to school together. We then met up again when we were stationed together in Korea. I can still hear her laugh. I renter when she was pregnant and the baby would always move, we laugh and say she was dancing. We even came up with a dance that we thought she was doing. Fly high friend and tell my daddy I said hi and I love him.

  4. God rest this beautiful woman. We were neighbors. .Denise. and my daughter were friends. This was a major blow to our whole community. Rest in peace, and live again. Trust that your beautiful daughter will be well taken care of. Hooah, my sister.

  5. We called her McKnight!!!! She had a beautiful smile, kind heart, and she was always professional. She loved her daughter so much! We were stationed together in2010 at Fort Jackson, then we were also deployed together Afghanistan in 2013. She will be missed. Rest in Heaven and let your wings fly.
