Vincenzo Di Monaco, 81, of Dunbar Hill Rd., Hamden, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Rosa Scirocco Di Monaco for 54 years. Vincenzo was born in Pontelatone, Caserta, Italy on December 6, 1936, son of the late Luigi and Maria De Cristofaro Di Monaco. He served with the Arma dei Carabinieri in Italy for nine years before immigrating to the US. Vincenzo worked for Len-Crete Corporation for many years and later at Blakeslee Prestress Inc. He was an active member and usher at Church of the Ascension. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, making wine and traditional foods with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Vincenzo is survived by his sons Mario Di Monaco and Luigi Di Monaco and his wife Maria; grandchildren Vincenzo, Angelo, and Rosalina Di Monaco; siblings Filomena Di Monaco Scirocco, Antonio Di Monaco (Beverly), Giuseppina Di Monaco Scirocco, and Giovanni Di Monaco (Michelle); brother-in-law Francesco Scirocco; sisters-in-law Filomena Scirocco, Michelina Scirocco, Luisa Scirocco and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers-in-law Antonio Scirocco, Domenico Scirocco, Paolo Scirocco, Nicola Scirocco, Giuseppe Scirocco, Antonio Scirocco, Giuseppe Scirocco and sisters-in-law Maria Scirocco, Mariagiovanna Scirocco, Filomena Scirocco, and Chiarina Scirocco. His funeral will leave from BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave. Hamden, on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in the Church of the Ascension, 1040 Dunbar Hill Rd. Hamden. Entombment in All Saints Mausoleum. Friends may visit with his family Thursday from 4:00-8:00 pm.
