Viola Yasensky Preisner

Viola H. (Yasensky) Preisner, 95, died Friday, August 13, 2004, t the Glastonbury Health Care Center in Glastonbury. She was the widow of John L. Preisner, to whom she was married for 65 years. Viola was born July 21, 1909 in Wallingford, CT, a daughter of the late Stanislaus and Anastasia Yasensky, both born in Austria, and immigrated to the United States in 1885. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a long time American Red Cross volunteer, a founding member of the Hamden Arts Council, a 50-year member of the New Haven Women's Club serving twice as President. She was on the original Board of Directors for the Orchestra New England, and had enjoyed their music for the past 30 years. She was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters, and is survived by her son Peter Preisner and his wife Mary; her grandchildren, John Preisner and his wife Tammy, and Laura (Preisner) Ryan and her husband Tim; two great grandsons Jeffrey Ryan and John Ryan, all of Glastonbury; and a large extended family, including many nieces and nephews. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Tues., Aug. 17, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, burial will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Wallingford. Her family will receive relatives and friends, Monday, August 16 from 4-8 p.m. Memorial Donations may be made in her name to Orchestra New England, 200123 Yale Station, New Haven, CT 06520-0123, or to New Haven Woman's Club Scholarship Fund, PO Box 6421, Hamden, CT 06517.
