Woodbridge- Virginia J. Anderson, 90, wife of the late Howard E. Anderson of Woodbridge passed away suddenly April 19, 2008 in Yale New Haven Hospital . Mrs. Anderson was born in Bridgeport, CT July 28, 1917, a daughter of the late Arthur H. and Helen Chapell Jobes. She graduated from the former Larsen College of Hamden, and before retirement was a bookkeeper for a local insurance firm and co-owner of Anderson Paving Company. A long-time Woodbridge resident, she was very active in the community and a member of the First Church of Christ, Woodbridge, the Jr. Women's Club of West Haven, the Woodbridge Garden Club, the Woodbridge Club, and the League of Women Voters. One of her many passions in life was bridge, and she was an avid, life-long player. She is survived by a sister, Marjorie Beecher and her husband Walter of Hamden, nieces Valerie Petersen of Milford and Carolyn Russell of Syracuse NY, and nephews Arvin Anderson of Vermont, Donald Swan of St. Louis, and Leslie Swan of Simsbury. She was predeceased by nephews Karl Anderson of Branford and Robert H. Teator of Cheshire. Ms. Anderson was the proud aunt of many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Graveside service of interment will be Wednesday April 23, at 10 a.m. in East Side Cemetery, Pease Rd., Woodbridge. Memorial service will follow in the First Church of Christ Woodbridge at 10:30. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice or the First Church of Christ in Woodbridge. Arrangements are in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN.
