Virginia Marciano Szirbik

In Bennington, VT Nov. 5, 2000, Virginia Marciano Szirbik 71, wife of William Szirbik, Sr. of Dorset, VT, formerly of West Haven. Beside her husband she is survived by a son William Lee Szirbik of Dorset, daughters June Alspaugh of Dorset and Susan Boutard of Lebanon, NY, sisters, Catherine Granfield, Antoinette Burke both of West Haven, a brother Anthony Marciano of Wallingford, 4 grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth Onerato and Eleanor Ardito and brothers, Frank and Vincent Marciano. She was born in West Haven, March 8, 1929 a daughter of the late Quintino and Mary Marciano she attended public schools in West Haven and New Haven, a graduate of the Paier Art School and the Silvermine School of Art in Westport, CT. While living in the New Haven area she was active in commercial building development in Orange, West Haven and Wallingford. She moved to Manchester, VT in 1963 and pioneered the commercial development of the area. From 1966 to 1974 she developed Manchester Vermont's first and only community oriented shopping center which still stands today. Funeral service at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Friday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
