In Meriden, October 26, 2001. Walter E. Kowalski of 310 Harrison Rd. Wallingford. Husband of Barbara Moriarty Kowalski.. Born in Wallingford, Ct. on June 28,1927, He was the son of the late Stephen and Sophie Garvan Kowalski. Walter established The Kowalski Company Realtors in 1959 with offices in Wallingford, Meriden, Durham, Middletown, Northford and Cheshire. He was the President of ; The Fifth Wallingford Construction Co. and Kowalski Company Properties. He was a partner in The Wallingford Industrial Park, Ltd and the Fourth Wallingford Real Estate Investment Co. A Licensed Real Estate Broker in Connecticut and New York, he was also a Certified Real Estate Appraiser. He served the Central Connecticut Board of Realtors as a Director, Past President and on numerous committees. A land developer and builder of residential, commercial and industrial properties, he was an appraiser for banks, individuals, estates and corporations. He was a veteran of W.W. II , serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was employed by the International Silver Co, before starting his own company . A very civic minded person, Walter served on many Boards; The Wallingford Chamber of Commerce, Wallingford Chamber, Mayor's Advisory Committee, the Advisory Board of The Union Trust Co., Undercliff Mental Health Center, Wallingford United Way, and Wallingford Center Incorporated. An Active Emeritus member of the Masonicare Board of Trustees, he received their Luke Lockwood award for meritorious service. His memberships are numerous: American Legion Post # 73, Past Commander, Center Lodge # 97, A.F. & A.M of Meriden, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Sphinx Temple of the Shrine and the Royal Order of the Jesters, The B.P.O E of the Elks, #1365. He was a member of the Polish National Alliance, St. Peter & St. Paul Catholic Church, the Wallingford Country Club and the Farms Country Club. He receiver many Civic Awards for his work in Real Estate and the community. Beside his wife , he is survived by sons; Greg Kowalski of Wallingford, William and his wife Roberta Blennerehassett, Jr. of Southington, a daughter Judith and her husband Richard Freeman of Wallingford, a sister, Florence Biega of Wallingford, grandchildren, Bailey Freeman, Maureen Blennerhassett and William Belennerhassett, III , also several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. . Friends are invited to attend A Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church, Wallingford on Tuesday, October 30, at 9:30 A.M.
