Walter F. Anderson, 69, of New Haven, beloved husband of Kathleen Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Son of the late Walter A. and Isabelle Anderson, Walter was born on October 29, 1946. He was a graduate of Amity High School in 1965 and joined the U.S. Navy shortly thereafter. Walter served for two tours during the Vietnam War, first on the USS Kitty Hawk and then on the USS Theodore Roosevelt before being honorably discharged in 1969. After his service in the Navy, Walter worked many years for the Automatic Milk Vending Co. He was a past member of the Bethany Volunteer Fire Dept. and Ambulance Corps. and was a part of the second ever graduating class of the Connecticut EMT School. Walter also enjoyed the time he spent as a member of the Hamden Elks club. Along with his wife Kathleen, Walter is survived by his daughter Stacey Anderson; son Kevin Anderson; grandson Elijah 'Pookie' Sorrells; sisters Geraldine Deyermond and Carol Johnson; brother David Anderson; many nieces and nephews; and his special cousin Jimmy Marshall. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Walter's life on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at the Hamden Elks Club, 2224 School St., Hamden.
