In New Haven, November 15, 2000, Wilder Joseph Greeley 94, of 826 Fountain St., Woodbridge, husband of Benita Pape Greeley, father of Bonnie Greeley Sherwood and her husband Peter Sherwood of Newton, MA, grandfather of Christopher and Stefan Sherwood. He was born in Southington, CT Sept. 17, 1906 son of the late Daniel W. and Elizabeth Belser Greeley. He was a graduate of Lewis High School in Southington and attened Bates College. We was employed by SNET Co. from 1930-45 and during WW II he was in charge of the engineering department of the U.S. Office of War Information in England. From 1950-85 he was President and Treasurer of Paper Delivery Inc. and Chairman and President from 1985 to the present. He was a member of First Church of Christ Congregational of Woodbridge, a member of Woodbridge Republican Town Committee from 1946-84 and was Chairman of the Woodbridge Police Commission from 1972-83. His memberships include Kiwanis Club of Naugatuck, New England Federation of Men's Glee Clubs, The Waterbury Club, Mental Health Assoc. of Central Naugatuck Valley, fifty year member and Past Master of Temple Lodge #16, Scottish Rite Valley of New Haven, Lafayette Consistory, Honorary member of Supreme Council 33 degree and York Rite of New Haven. Memorial service Friday, Nov. 24, 2000 at First Church of Christ, Woodbridge at 11 a.m. Contributions may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements under the direction of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
