Wilfred A. Froggatt, 93, of Old Lyme, loving husband of 63 years to the late June Vumback Froggatt, passed away on August 20, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Born in Meriden on December 10, 1927, a son of the late Charles and Alice Blythe Froggatt, he is survived by his children, Rev. W. Alan Froggatt, Jr. and his wife Dr. Deborah Lang Froggatt of Old Lyme, Candace Froggatt of Rocky Hill, and Bradley T. Froggatt of Meriden; sister Ruth A. Froggatt of Meriden; grandchildren Jennifer Michael and her husband Erik, Melanie Eaton and her husband William, Clare Fitzgerald and her husband Brian, Ella Blythe Froggatt and her husband Adam Blais, Molly Valentin and her husband Kyle Carmona, Emily Calistro and her husband Dominic, and Jessica Doten; and great-grandchildren, Jonathan Michael, Madeline and Grayson Eaton, Mason and Aria Kingsley, and Connor Fitzgerald.
Will was a 1946 graduate of Meriden High School, served in the Marine Corps, and was employed for much of his career at International Silver Co. Later in life he worked at the Record-Journal until retirement. He was a lifelong member of the Middletown Elks Lodge #771, and more recently a member of the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme.
A Memorial Service celebrating Wilfred’s life will be held on Wednesday August 25, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the United Church of Chester, 29 West Main St., Chester, CT 06412. Wilfred’s son Rev. W. Alan Froggatt will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of his family. Memorial contributions in Wilfred’s name may be made to the Down Syndrome Association of Connecticut (https://mydsact.org).
