Wilfred A. MacDonald, Jr. formerly of 31 Garfield Ave., Hamden, died Sat., March 12, 2005 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born in New Haven, Dec. 12, 1933 a son of the late Wilfred A. and Grace Merriam MacDonald, Sr. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a mailman for the U. S. Postal Service until his retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Rita's Church. Mr. MacDonald was an avid model train enthusiast. He is survived by three cousins and their spouses, Eileen and Patrick Oaks of West Hartford, Kathy and Garry Williams of Kensington and Lawrence Grady, Jr. of Longmont, CO and friends, Mary and Thomas Neal of Guilford. He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Helen Shields. Friends and relatives are invited to go directly to St. Rita Church, Hamden for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, March 18 at 10 a.m. Burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery. BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden is in charge of arrangements.

  1. Willy Mac was the nicest guy one could meet or work with. I worked with Willy for several years and the New Haven P O and made many Religious retreats with at at the Holy Family Retreat House in west Hartford. Willy was President of local Retreat Chapter and was very devoted to the Blessed Mother. I am sure that Our Lady met him at Heaven\’s Door and ushered him in to his eternal Reward in Heaven with Jesus.
