William A. Phibbs, 96, a life-long Meriden resident, loving husband of 59 years to the late Bernice Dobrick Phibbs, passed away on May 2, 2023 at Masonic Healthcare, Wallingford. He was born in Meriden on March 10, 1927, a son of the late Charles E. Phibbs and Hilda Backstrom Phibbs. William honorably served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He then went on to become a photographic engineer at Pratt & Whitney for thirty-two years. He was a drummer in local Connecticut bands for forty-five years. He is survived by his sister Elinor Chamberlain of Colchester, CT; his son, William Phibbs and daughter-in-law Henrietta Ustjanauskas, of Avon, CT; his daughter, Eileen Sepulveda and son-in-law Samuel, of New Britain, CT; his grandchildren, Angela Sepulveda and her husband Andrew Yackira, of New York, NY, Christine Sepulveda and her husband Jordan Padilla of Stratford, NJ, David Sepulveda of New Britain, CT, and Alexander Phibbs of Boca Raton, FL, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Carl and Robert Phibbs, and sister, Dorothy Leach. William is and will forever be deeply loved and missed by his family.

Services were privately held at the convenience of his family. He is now laid to rest, and together forever with his wife Bernice at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden. William’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to The Antique Veterans of Meriden, for providing Military Funeral Honors, acknowledging William’s service in WWII.
