Hargrove, William ''Bill'' Dean William ''Bill'' Deane Hargrove, 70, formerly of Hamden and New Haven passed away Sunday, March 10, 2002 in Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born in Hamden, June 30, 1931, a son of the late Robert and Naomi Deane Hargrove, Sr. at 7 months of age he became ill with spinal menigitis that left him paralized from the waist down. He attended Margaret L. Keefe School and Centerville School in Hamden. Later in life he repaired shoes and became a cabinet maker. Many Hamdenites and New Havener's will remember him as the smiling young man who sat behind the bus driver on the Centerville bus. Bill was handicapped in body not spirit. He loved the Lord and was a Trustee of the Love and Faith Tabernacle. He is survived by a brother, Robert Hargrove, Jr. and his wife Bessie Hargrove of Sharon Hill, PA, sisters, Naomi Murray of Brooklyn, NY and Joyce H. Scott and her husband, Willie Scott of Hamden, a goddaughter, Katie Spellman of New Haven and his adoptive family, James and Louise Hicks, Sr., James Hicks, Jr. and Mary Stoudmire of New Haven and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Julian Morton Hargrove and David A. Hargrove. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 13 at 11:30 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Friends may call Wednesday morning from 9 - 11:30 a.m. Burial in Centerville Cemetery.
