William “Bill” Francis Reilly, 78, of Branford, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Bill entered this world on September 9, 1947, in New Haven, to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Shanley Reilly.
Bill was a proud member of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers (BAC) Local 1 of Connecticut. He began his career as a bricklayer at just 17 years old and dedicated 40 years to the trade before his retirement. Bill took immense pride in his work and in providing for his family. In retirement, he loved spending time by the water—walking the beach, collecting seashells, and enjoying time with his loyal companion, his dog, Sasha. Sundays became his favorite day of the week, spent savoring family dinners and preparing his beloved homemade Sunday sauce.
Bill was married to his beloved wife, Etta Migliozzi Reilly for 47 years, until her passing in 2014. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Elizabeth Reilly Mentillo; his son, William Francis Reilly, Jr.; brothers, Joseph and Thomas Reilly; and sister, Marilyn Esposito.
Bill is survived by his sons, Joseph Reilly and Michael Reilly; his daughter-in-law and goddaughter, Christine Pepe Reilly; his eleven grandchildren; his cherished German Shepherd, Sasha; sisters, Elizabeth Pasquale, Margaret Pesticci and Sharron Reilly; and brothers, Robert Reilly and Dennis Reilly, along with many nieces and nephews.
Bill was deeply cared for by his devoted caregivers, whose kindness, compassion, and attention meant so much to him and his family. Bill will be remembered for his storytelling, his quick wit and sense of humor, his devotion to his family, his love for Sasha, and his hardworking nature.
