William H. Knoth, Sr.
In CT Hospice, Feb. 12, 2006, William H. Knoth, Sr., 87, husband of Irene Siennicki Knoth of Treadwell St., Hamden, father of William H. Knoth, Jr. and his wife, Nilda of Hamden, brother of Helen K. Emery and the late Mary Margaret K. Jones. Also survived by 3 granddaughters. William was born in Salt Lake City, UT, June 15, 1918 son of the late Bernard and Mayme Vier Knoth and served as a US Army Captain during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was Director of Public Relations and Advertising for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of CT, Inc. and retired in 1981. He was associated with the North Haven Rotary, American Red Cross as Program Chairman (1967-'70 & '72-'75), American Heart Assoc., Mental Health Planning Council and the Sales & Marketing Executives of Greater New Haven and theAdvertising Club of New Haven County, Inc. His dedicated service has earned many noteworthy awards for BC of CT. From both voluntary and professional organizations. The Bronze Medal for Advertising Excellence for the Film "CHOOSE LIFE" at the International Film & Television Festival in NY and the Personal Award of the Clara Barton Medal for Distinguished Red Cross Service and Past President of the Rotary Club of North Haven. As Rotarian he served as Co-Chairman, District Conference (6-5-78), Chairman of Membership Development Committee (8-29-78) & Governor's Representative Feb., 1978. He received the David A. North Rotarian Award for 1977-78 and Paul Harris Fellow and Donald Adams Award. Funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
