William J. Kelly, Jr.
William J. Kelly, Jr, age 82, of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Hamden, passed away on April 4, 2015. William was born in New Haven on July 9, 1932 a son of the late William J. Kelly, Sr & Mary Maroney Kelly. He was predeceased by his wife Eleanor F. McGraft Kelly. William is survived by his son William J. Kelly III with whom he resided; his sister Peggy Craft of Hamden; brother John William Kelly of Guilford and several nieces & nephews. He was a retired building foreman for SNET in New Haven, prior to that he was a mechanic for the former Ekblade Oldsmobile in Hamden. William was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus with the Mt. Carmel Council & Port St. Lucie Council and was a communicant & usher for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He was an avid fan of the Yankees, Giants & Montreal Canadians. He enjoyed his time in Florida but did miss his many friends and family in Hamden. Friends may visit with his family on Thursday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. Contributions in his memory may be made to Conn. Hospice Inc, 100 Double Beach Rd, Branford, CT 06405.
