William R. Cooper, age 92, of Hamden passed away October 4, 2024. Born in Penhook Virginia on December 16, 1931, he was a son of the late George and Bertha (Godfrey) Cooper. Bill was predeceased this last month by his loving wife of 66 years Annette (Calamo) Cooper. He is survived by his beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and William Moore, Linda Cooper, all of North Haven, and Karen and Scott Silver of Durham; and grandchildren, William Moore, Courtney, Iain, and Riley Silver. Bill was predeceased by his brothers, Lewis, Edward, Milton, James, and Leroy Cooper. Moving to Connecticut in the 50’s, he had resided in Hamden since 1960. Bill worked many years for Manger Die Casting Company in Derby as a Tool & Die Cast Maker. He enjoyed woodworking, making clocks and furniture, loved to garden, and visited the casinos with his wife whenever they could. Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran and a longtime member of the Masons Day Spring Lodge #30 in Hamden, where he was a 2-time Past Master.
Friends are invited to visit with his family on Tuesday, October 8th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. All may attend his Masonic Funeral Service in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., followed by his burial with Military Honors in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden.
